Every lawyer can be a great speaker, if they understand what public speaking is really about: having a conversation on a topic you're passionate about and using not just words, but also tone and body language. Most attorneys, of course, are relied on for their oral communication skills. But those skills don't come naturally for everyone. Here are tips from Richard Greene – a trainer of public speakers, a former lawyer, and a graduate of USC Law School – using samples from some of the most famous speeches in history:
